Inaugural business standard to launch
A new certified standard for businesses, which will enable organisations to build partnerships and drive growth and innovation, is set to launch next month.
The inaugural business standard on Collaborative Business Relationships will be unveiled by the British Standards Institution (BSI) at the House of Lords on December 7.
According to the BSI, the standard recognises the importance for companies, governments and other organisations, to form long-term business partnerships, particularly in the current economic climate. During the event industry leaders will convene to gain understanding into how the standard can help them generate and implement practical, innovative solutions through effective business relationships

‘Economic recovery back on track’, says Osborne
The UK economy is “on track” for recovery despite “challenging” global conditions, according to the chancellor.
In his speech on Monday this week, George Osborne said the British economy is heading towards “sustainable growth”, as increased export trade was helping to reduce the danger of a double-dip recession.
However, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has called on the government to implement policies that will help deliver a stronger economy through small business growth. The FSB wrote to the chancellor ahead of the Autumn Statement to highlight clear and comprehensive strategies which will allow the small business community to employ and invest.

Environment Agency says businesses improving
A new Environment Agency report shows that overall businesses are doing better at moving towards sustainability despite difficult economic times.
The Greener Business report, published yesterday, states that poor performance from some industries, particularly waste firms, has been causing the most pollution incidents across the sectors that fall under the Agency’s care. However, the report, which covers England and Wales, also says that the majority of operators have shown improvement in their attention to sensitive environmental issues.
Over half of the sites that fall under the Environment Agency’s jurisdiction earned a top ‘A’ rating from the governing body. This is a 47 per cent increase from last year. The Agency rates industries from A to E based on environmental performance and nearly nine of 10 firms were in the top two tiers.
